Scarlett Johansson has sued Disney over a contract breach after the simultaneous release of Marvel’s Black Widow in theatres as well as on the OTT platform Disney+. According to Johansson’s attorneys, the studio breached the contract of not releasing the film exclusively in theatres. John Berlinski, an attorney of the actress has said that Disney is trying to gain subscribers and boost the company’s stock price through this. He added that ignoring the contract of the artists, who are responsible for the success of the film, violates their rights and that they shall very much prove it in the court of law. Disney too released a statement saying that there is no merit to the filing. The studio added that Scarlett had already received $20 million, and Disney+ with a premier access will enhance her possibility of earning additional compensation over and above $20 million.
