Saregama, the music company behind the recently released controversial music video, “Madhuban,” has announced that they will change its lyrics as well as its name after a widespread protest erupted against it.

Several Hindu groups as well as social media users have been demanding the song be banned as it has sensual dance moves by Sunny Leone. They have alleged that her dance moves to a song about Krishna and Radha hurt the sentiments of the Hindus. Saregama, in a statement issued on their Twitter handle today, confirmed that the name of the song and its lyrics will be changed considering the feedback they have received.

They also confirmed that the new song will replace the older one across all platforms over the next 3 days. This decision has been taken in light of the warning issued by Madhya Pradesh’s Home Minister, Narottam Mishra, asking to remove the song in three days. He has gone on to say that if Sunny Leone and music directors Shaarib and Toshi don’t withdraw the song, they will be liable to face strict action and an FIR.

The Home Minister of the state had said that some vidharmis have been constantly hurting Hindu sentiments and added that Radha is our Goddess and we worship her and have temples for her. Mishra even asked if Shaarib would compose something like this about his religion. The song, sung by Kanika Kapoor, was released on December 22, and people from all walks of life have alleged that it mocks the Hindu religion.

The lyrics of the song are based on Mohammad Rafi’s Madhuban Mein Radhika Naache Re and people are unhappy about the dance moves in the song. Soon after the music video received a backlash through negative comments, the YouTube comments section was disabled.
