We had shared a few days back about Yash Raj Films venturing into digital content through Yash Raj Entertainment. The content production business will churn out five exciting projects in its first year. To start it all, the first big project that’ll hit the floors will be The Railway Men.
This will be a limited series that will be a tribute to the unsung railway workers at the Bhopal railway station who saved thousands of lives on that fateful night, exactly 37 years back when Bhopal Gas Tragedy, the world’s biggest man-made industrial disaster occurred. The Railway Men will be directed by Shiv Rawail, who has been mentored by Aditya Chopra himself and has been homegrown at YRF over the past few years.
The Railway Men will be a limited series and shall showcase human resilience and spirit during the biggest industrial disaster in the history of mankind. The series will have an ensemble of four exceptional actors like R. Madhavan, Kay Kay Menon, Divyenndu, and Babil Khan, late Irrfan Khan’s son.
Apart from these four talented artists, there would be other powerful performers too, who will join the team. The filming of The Railway Men has already begun from December 1. The story is about an industrial tragedy that was caused due to a Methyl Isocyanate gas that leaked from an American-owned Union Carbide factory in the late hours of December 2, 1984, which resulted in more than half a million people being poisoned that night.
As per the official figures, the death toll exceeded 5000, and it is said that people suffered from chronic health problems like asthma, blindness, immune and neurological problems because of the leak. The Railway Men will release on December 2, 2022, and pay homage to the saviors of humanity that shook the world 37 years back.
