The Ellen DeGeneres Show is soon bidding goodbye. The anchor, who is also the executive producer, has confirmed that the show, which lasted 19 seasons and which is one of the long-running talk shows, is in its final year. She has already informed her staff about the decision on May 11 and will be sitting with her long-time close friend Oprah Winfrey to discuss the end of the show. Speaking on it, DeGeneres said that when you are a creative person, you constantly want to be challenged, and as a great show that it has turned out to be, it isn’t a challenge anymore.

Last year in July, BuzzFeed News did an expose detailing allegations of a toxic workplace which prompted Ellen to initiate an internal inquiry and take action against some key executives. On May 13, she did a sit-down with TODAY and said that she didn’t really understand it. It looked too orchestrated and coordinated. She further clarified that the toxic workplace accusations aren’t the reason to end the show.

DeGeneres added that if that was the reason she would have rather quit and wouldn’t have come back this year. Although she said that the kind of person she is, she certainly thought of not coming back as the entire toxic workplace incident was devastating. Talking about it, Ellen DeGeneres said that it was no way she could have learned about it as there are 225 employees, and there are lots of different buildings.

She went on to say that it’s her name on the show, and it clearly affects her and that somebody should have come up to her to tell her that something was going around that she should be in the know of.
