Radhe Review

As it was in Wanted, Mumbai is under the havoc created by the drug mafia. Teens are falling prey to drugs, and there is no way one can control the consistent substance abuse. The existing crime lords of the city aren’t the crux of the problem, though. As it would happen in most of the movies, the perplexed police decide to rope in a specialist to clean the city mess. No prizes for guessing who is that going to be. Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai acknowledges that it is inspired by the South Korean flick, The Outlaws. That said, there are enough masala movies with similar storylines, one can watch in India, then why take international content from someplace else.

Coming back to the character, Radhe’s entry in the movie will put even the superheroes to shame, and why not..! It is solely meant for the mass cheering fans in the theatre who know that their BHAI can carry off almost anything like none other. If this wasn’t enough, the super cop is credited with some 97 encounters and is transferred 23 times in his career. Don’t waste your time wondering why such erratic figures. Bollywood mein chalta hai..No task is challenging for him, after all, he is Radhe, aka Salman Khan.

On the other hand, Disha Patani, plays a cute but downright dumb character in the movie. It’s high time, Salman Khan’s movies pay heed to actresses too. There isn’t much in the movie to hold interest, up until you find Rana, played by Randeep Hooda, who’s a tough nut to crack, even for Radhe. But their face-off falls flat. As expected, Rana goes about slashing everyone who meddles in his affairs, but his one on one with Radhe isn’t enough to keep us hooked. Radhe’s story is all over the place, but the biggest puzzle is Jackie Shroff’s character. We wonder why he is even there in the movie. The only thing that works for Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai is its length.

You don’t have to drag yourself till eternity, even though you know the outcome. Neither the movie is like an out-and-out masala entertainer like Dabangg or a no-brainer like Ready. We wish the director’s look into the story too, try to make it innovative, rather than just banking on the star power, which is quite the case here. What might also work for the movie in these times is that it presents itself as a good option to take you away from the gloom.
