Chhorii’s sequel is under development, with the lead actor Nushrratt Bharuccha and also Vishal Furia returning to direct it. The producers, T-Series, Abundantia Entertainment, and Crypt TV, are looking to expand the franchise after the success of the first film from the lot, which was released on November 30 on Amazon Prime Video.
The film happened to be a remake of Vishal Furia’s Marathi film, Lapachhapi, in which an unborn child is targeted by evil spirits. The sequel, tentatively named Chhorii 2, will pick up Nushrratt’s character- Sakshi’s story from where it left off in the first film and will also bring back some important characters as well as new scares. Talking about the development, the director said that he is thrilled to take the story ahead to part two as he has always envisioned Chhorii to be a multiple film franchise.
According to him, he started developing the sequel while the first movie was being made. Nushrratt says that she is over the moon after the response the film has received and is indeed excited to be reuniting with Vishal and the crew. The film as per her was a significant departure from the work she was known for, and being rewarded for it is indeed a great feeling. According to the statement of the producers, they were grateful to Amazon Prime Video for giving a platform to Chhorii so that it could be showcased across the world and that they are delighted to grow the successful collaboration with Furia and the talented Nushrratt Bharuccha. The statement added that this time around they take Chhorii 2 a notch higher in making it scarier.
