In advent to bring to the audiences some path-breaking movies with the best directors and actors, Viacom 18 Studios is collaborating with India’s A-league production house, Dharma Productions. Viacom has already made a mark for itself by creating unique cinema that has garnered commercial success and critical acclaim too. Partnering with Dharma Productions will elevate their level of cinema even more. With this association, both Viacom 18 will collaborate for some of the most anticipated Dharma Productions films like Karan Johar’s directorial Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani that stars Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, and Shabana Azmi. Then there will be Jug Jugg Jeeyo, helmed by Raj Mehta, starring Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, and Neetu Singh. The collaboration will also include Shakun Batra’s next, which has Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Dhairya Karwa, and Ananya Pandey in it, and Shashank Khaitan’s Mr. Lele, which has the likes of Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, and Kiara Advani. Speaking on the association, Ajit Andhare, who is the COO, Viacom 18, said that as they scale up, they are looking at key partnerships with production houses that shape the mainstream cinema. He added that collaborating with Karan Johar and Dharma to build a slate of films will further strengthen the long-term association. Producer Karan Johar said that with Viacom 18 Studios and Ajit Andhare, Dharma Productions sees a partner that not only shares their vision in storytelling but has the same approach to differentiated cinema as theirs. The four films which are a part of the deal are in the various stages of production and shall release in the next 18-24 months. Viacom 18 has acquired the satellite rights of all these films.
