Last year in January, Shashank Khaitan directorial Mr. Lele was officially announced, with Varun Dhawan and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead. It would have been yet another collaboration between Varun Dhawan and Shashank Khaitan after Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya and Badrinath Ki Dulhania. However, things did not go the way they should have been, and Dhawan had to step down from the project, after which Vicky Kaushal took it over. It turns out since then, the script has undergone a thorough makeover, with the Director even revealing that the title of the movie is not the same anymore. Now that both Vicky Kaushal and Bhumi Pednekar have tested negative for COVID-19, we can soon expect things to start on the project. Shashank has already done theatre with Vicky and was also a schoolmate of Bhumi Pednekar. No wonder he considers this project as friends coming together to create something new.
