Vivek Oberoi has praised the phenomenal work done by Filmmaker Aditya Chopra during the pandemic and applauded his move to shift the budget of YRF50 to COVID-19 relief. The actor took to his Twitter to share his views and called Aditya leader in the film fraternity. Interestingly, the production house, which completed 50 years in 2020, had made elaborate plans to celebrate this occasion in India and abroad. But all their plans to make the occasion a reason to remember took a back seat when the entire country, especially the state of Maharashtra, came under the fury of the second wave of COVID-19. With this happening, in no time, the top boss of Yash Raj Films diverted the entire budget of YRF50 into pandemic relief. Oberoi lauded the move made by Aditya and also appreciated his efforts in providing cooked meals to frontline workers in Goregaon and quarantine centers in Andheri.
The actor, in his note of appreciation on Twitter, said that turning the entire budget from an incredible milestone of 50 years into a source of helping the people in need is indeed commendable and that Aditya Chopra is truly a leader not just in the film fraternity but humanity too. Last week, the filmmaker also started the Saathi initiative, where he aims to provide financial assistance to several thousands of film industry workers.
Under this initiative, the production house, under the Yash Raj Foundation, will oversee direct transfers of Rs. 5000 to female and senior citizens from the film industry and also distribute rations kits to the family of four. Furthermore, the production house is also in the process of purchasing 30000 COVID-19 vaccines for the registered workers of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees- FWICE. It is said that the Yashraj Foundation will bear all the costs associated with the vaccination of workers, like raising awareness, transportation of workers, and even setting up all the required infrastructure.
