Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Leaves ED-Delhi Office After Five Hours of Questioning In The Panama Papers Leak Case

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the Panama Papers leak case, appeared before the agency in Delhi, where she was questioned for five hours.

Earlier, the authority had sent summons to the Bachchan family asking them to throw light on the foreign remittances done by them since 2004 under RBI’s Liberalised Remittance Scheme. For the unversed, Panama Papers are leaked files from Mossack Fonseca, a firm from Panama that reveals the wealth stashed away in offshore accounts by India’s rich and famous. Several Indian names cropped up in the leak, including that of Aishwarya’s father-in-law, Amitabh Bachchan.

After the leak, which took place in 2016, Amitabh Bachchan had clarified that he had sent money abroad as per the Indian rules. He also went on to deny any links with any company that appeared in the Panama Papers and hinted at the fact that his name could have been misused. On the work front, both Aishwarya and Amitabh have been keeping very busy with the back-to-back schedules of their commitments. Aishwarya will be next seen in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan, a film that will mark her return to the big screen after four years.
