On Monday, Vice President Shri Venkaiah Naidu awarded some of the biggest names in the film and entertainment fraternity; the occasion was the 67th National Awards. While Manoj Bajpayee and Dhanush jointly won the award in the best actor category for Bhonsle and Asuran respectively, it was Kangana Ranaut grabbing her 4th National Award for the best actress for her role in Manikarnika and Panga.
The highlight of this year’s ceremony was the moment when superstar Rajinikanth received the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Awards for five decades of terrific performances across the regional and Hindi cinema genres. The actor’s family was present at the awards ceremony.
The best Hindi feature film award went to Sushant Singh Rajput starrer Chhichhore. Both, producer Sajid Nadiadwala and director Nitesh Tiwari were present on the occasion to accept the award. Nadiadwala and Nitesh Tiwari dedicated the award to their lead hero, the late Sushant Singh Rajput.The awards took place after a year’s delay due to the pandemic and were given to the films that were released in 2019. Notably, the last film that got showcased in theatres before the first wave of Corona Virus struck was Angrezi Medium starring the late Irrfan Khan.
