The trailer of the much-awaited film, 83, is finally out. The story revolves around India’s Unforgettable 1983 World Cup win. It gives incredible insight into the Indian cricket team, who were regarded as underdogs but went on to win the Prudential Cricket World Cup in 1983. The trailer begins with the iconic group match between India & Zimbabwe at Tunbridge Wells, where half the team was in the pavilion with the score, not even 20.
Enters Kapil Dev, played by Ranveer Singh, who goes on to make 175 not out, the then highest individual score in an ODI, and that’s where the turnaround in the tournament begins. While Deepika Padukone will be seen playing Romy Dev, Kapil’s wife, in the movie, there are other stars like Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Nishant Dahiya, Harrdy Sandhu, Jatin Sarna, Ammy Virk, and Sahil Khattar playing key characters. 83 is presented by Reliance Entertainment and Phantom Films, and is a Kabir Khan Films Production. The film will release in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Telugu. It will have a 3D format as well.
Kamal Hassan’s Raajkamal Films International and Akkineni Nagarjuna’s Annapurna Studios will join hands with Reliance to release Tamil and Telugu versions respectively. 83 is jointly produced by Deepika Padukone, Kabir Khan, Sajid Nadiadwala, Vishnu Vardhan Induri, Reliance Entertainment, and Phantom Films and is all set to release in theatres on December 24 this year.
