With theatres not open in any part of the country, the next best option for movies to release is OTT. If we were to go by what has happened over the last year, producers are more inclined to stick to an OTT format rather than going for the traditional route of a theatre release. The belief in taking this option has become stronger with the second wave of COVID-19 affecting us to no end. Disney+Hotstar premiered many big movies last year, and this year is not going to be any different for them. It was reported that the producers of Bhoot Police are in touch with the platform for an OTT release, and they aren’t the only ones doing so. Priyadarshan’s Hungama 2 is also taking the OTT route, and so is Dinesh Vijan’s Shiddat. Both Hungama 2 and Shiddat have opted for the streaming giant. Kriti Sanon starrer Mimi is also quite a delayed project and is now eyeing a Disney+Hotstar release. And finally, you have Kirti Kulhari and Nivedita Bhattacharya’s road trip story Shaadistan which is also making its way into the Disney+Hotstar catalog. The streaming giant will be in the thick of things yet again this year, with loads of movies lined up to premiere on it.
