A couple of days ago, members of Bollywood fraternity met up with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the role of the Indian film industry and its contribution towards the economic growth of the country.

With Indian cinema now being acknowledged globally and being one of the biggest entertainment industry in the world, Indian cinema heavily contributes to the country’s economic growth as well provide large scale employment.

Except for one thing… the members of the film fraternity who had an audience with the prime minister consisted of only male members – Aamir Khan, Rajkumar Hirani, Aanand L. Rai, Siddharth Roy Kapoor among others. Women who too play a stellar role in the Indian film industry were conspicuous by their absence.

Lately, with the #MeToo movement hitting the film industry, there has been some big names who have preferred to stay silent rather than speak out against their fellow accused male brethren. This is indeed a sad story considering women are an integral part of the film industry both on screen and behind it.

Last year, superstar Amitabh Bachchan was trolled heavily for posting a picture of himself with the PINK team except that the picture featured only males and all its leading ladies were missing from it.

If the scenario continues, it’s not possible to say that the male and female cast and crew of this industry will be standing on a same platform as equal in the near future.

But for now this year, its Aamir Khan’s turn to be trolled.
