We had already reported that Amazon Prime Video was in talks with Yash Raj Films for the latter’s four projects. It is now confirmed that flicks like Bunty Aur Babli 2, Prithviraj, Shameshera, and Jayeshbhai Jordaar are the four films which the production house has struck a deal for with the OTT giant. As per the agreement between the two, Amazon Prime Video will be free to air these films four weeks after their theatrical release. A well-placed industry source has revealed that the OTT platform has shelled out 250 crores for all four projects. Some may think of Amazon getting a great bargain out of it, however, the deal is not an exclusive OTT release and which is why the sums of money are lesser. Amazon Prime Video will be able to air all these movies after a gap of the first four weeks of their release across theatres. Had there been an exclusive OTT deal, the price would have been way higher. The source adds, gone are the days when OTT platforms were ready to shell out astronomical amounts for projects. But with COVID-19, the dependency on OTT viewership has seen an unparalleled surge, and this is where they hold the upper hand now.
