Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana has been in the news for its budget, the scale, and of course, its casting. Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu was supposed to play the role of Lord Ram, but he withdrew a few days back owing to his involvement with SS Rajamouli’s flick-on African Jungles. Now, the director has turned to Ranbir Kapoor for the role, which will be opposite Hrithik Roshan’s character of Ravana. Kapoor is currently shooting for Luv Ranjan’s untitled romantic comedy with Shraddha Kapoor and has shown his intent to do the movie. A source close to the project confirms that Nitesh is looking for an actor who can devote himself to the character of Lord Ram, and Ranbir fits the bill completely. Although the actor hasn’t given his nod to the project yet, in all possibilities, he will go ahead with it. Ramayana, which will be produced by Madhu Mantena, Allu Aravind, and Namit Malhotra, is going to be a three-part project, will be made on an estimated budget of 700 crores, and is expected to go on floors in mid-2022. The official announcement of the movie is expected on Diwali this year.
