Last year in August, Akshay Kumar had announced the film Raksha Bandhan on his social media handle with a poster that had him. It was supposed to be a November 2021 release, however, due to the various restrictions imposed because of the pandemic, the film did not even go on floors. The film directed by Anand L Rai will now commence its production this month. It is now revealed that Bhumi Pednekar will play the lead in the movie along with Akshay Kumar. Both will be reuniting after the 2017 hit Toilet- Ek Prem Katha, where they played a married couple. Akshay and Bhumi bond well as last year, Akshay had produced Bhaagamathie, which had the actress in the lead. Raksha Bandhan will be Akshay Kumar’s second project with Aanand L Rai after Atrangi Re which wrapped up earlier this year. As the name suggests, Raksha Bandhan will revolve around the brother-sister bond and will be produced by Colour Yellow Production in association with Cape of Good Films.
