Amazon Prime Video has announced today that Sherni, starring Vidya Balan in the lead, will premiere globally on the digital platform in June. Directed by Amit Masurkar and Co-produced by T- Series and Abundantia Entertainment, the movie has a lineup of a powerful cast like Sharad Saxena, Mukul Chaddha, Ila Arun, Vijay Raaz, Brijendra Kala, and Neeraj Kabi. Balan, who plays the role of a Forest Officer in the movie, looks to strike a balance in a world of man-animal conflict. Speaking on the development, Vijay Subramaniam, Director and Head for Content at Amazon Prime Video, confirmed that following the success of Shakuntala Devi, they are excited to present their customers from India and Abroad, Sherni, which again has Vidya Balan play a powerful character.
Vikram Malhotra, Producer and CEO of Abundantia Entertainment, said that after Shakuntala Devi, they are excited to yet again partner with Amazon Prime Video for this movie, which is one of the most important and special stories they have worked on. According to him, Amit Masurkar’s evocative take on a relevant subject tagged with trademark satire will make this movie a must-watch. He further added that he is excited for Vidya Balan’s fans, who will see her in an altogether unique avatar of a Forest Officer.
