This year saw a massive fallout between Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar during their collaboration on Dostana 2. The film had to be put on a backburner even though it was shot for more than 50%. Soon thereafter, Dharma Productions, on multiple occasions, suggested that the film will be revamped completely and Kartik’s role will be played by a much bigger star.
What followed was a great amount of speculation, with Karan Johar approaching Akshay Kumar to step into Kartik’s shoes. With Kartik moving out of the film after shooting for more than 50%, it obviously meant that the entire movie would be re-shot again with a tweak in the script as well. However, now, there is a very strong buzz in the industry suggesting that Dostana 2 has been put on the backburner completely.
As per an insider report, Karan has given Janhvi and Lakshya new projects and is also tagging along with Akshay Kumar for a new film named Selfie. The report suggests that although Karan tried his best to revive the film, things were taking more time than expected, and hence it was decided to put Dostana 2 on hold permanently.
Lakshya is now doing another film, with Shashank Khaitan, and Janhvi is involved in a project with Sharan Sharma. Akshay Kumar, on the other hand, is teaming up with Raj Mehta. With all this taking place, Karan Johar has been left with no other option but to put Dostana 2 under wraps, at least for the time being, with a hope to revive it in the future. Kartik Aaryan, who moved on long back from this fiasco, has some exciting movies lined up, such as Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Freddy, Shehzada, and Captain India.
