Karan Johar, on Wednesday announced that the release date of Gehraaiyan, directed by Shakun Batra, has been pushed from January 25 to February 11. Although the real reason behind the film’s postponement cannot be ascertained, it seems some team members of the project have tested positive for COVID-19, which is why the delay.
Last week, even the grand launch of the trailer was cancelled at Alibaug. Coincidentally, the film will now premiere on Shakun Batra’s 10th anniversary as director. He started his career with Imraan Khan’s movie, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, which surprised everyone due to its unconventional ending. Batra has also helmed the family drama, Kapoor & Sons, in 2016.
As for Gehraaiyan, the film has a highly anticipated star cast of Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday, and Dhairya Karwa. Besides, the movie also has the likes of Naseeruddin Shah and Rajat Kapur in key roles. Gehraaiyan will see a direct to digital release on Amazon Prime Video.
