Gehraiyaan, which has the likes of Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Dhairya Karwa, Naseeruddin Shah, Rajat Kapur, and Ananya Panday, had its trailer released on January 20, and from the first glimpse that we have had of it, the film looks like a layered and a complex love story, a relationship drama that covers adulting and modern ties, a typical Shakun Batra flick.
Talking about her character in the film, Deepika says that it is indeed very difficult to put it in words as the role is something she hasn’t done before. The character, according to her, is a lot more raw and real, which is completely vulnerable. Deepika adds that she had to dig deep and visit pieces that weren’t the most pleasant experiences in her life. She was referring to her mental health issues.
The film is about a girl named Alisha Khanna whose six years relationship has grown monotonous, and her career has already started hitting a lot of roadblocks. Her life changes with the arrival of Zain, her cousin’s fiancé with whom she bonds over her troubled past, and that’s where their journey begins. The film is produced by Viacom18 and Dharma Productions and will see a direct to digital release on Amazon Prime on January 25.
