Hungama 2

Friday Brands recently reported about Bhoot Police being sold to Disney+Hotstar for 60 crores. There is another movie that has clocked a decent sum with the OTT streaming platform, and that’s Hungama 2 starring Paresh Rawal, Shilpa Shetty, Rajpal Yadav, Manoj Joshi, Pranita Subhash, and Meezaan Jaffrey. The film also has a cameo played by Akshaye Khanna, who was the lead in the 2003 hit Hungama. It is confirmed that Hungama 2 is sold to Disney+Hotstar for a sum of 30 crores, but this does not include the satellite rights. Although the amount for television rights hasn’t been disclosed yet, it is expected to be somewhere between 6 to 8 crores, taking the overall figure to almost 38 crores. For Venus, who are the producers of the film, there is a reasonable amount coming from music rights and other sources too, thereby making the entire deal a very profitable one. Considering all the rights that are being sold, the overall revenue of Hungama 2 will be 45 crores, which will, in turn, go on to fetch Ratan Jain’s banner a table profit of almost 10 crores. The film has an ensemble of acclaimed actors, but none of them are superstars, and hence director Priyadarshan has been able to mount it on a big scale. People who have seen the first cut of the film are calling it a laughathon which means it’s a terrific buy for Disney+Hotstar amidst the pandemic and will grab all the eyeballs on digital as well as the television medium.
