After the recent success that some anthologies have had on the OTT platforms, they have indeed come of age and have attracted a huge set of audiences globally. The Indian OTT space has been churning out some really good content through this format of cinema telling. Be it Lust Stories, Unpaused, Ajeeb Daastaans, or Ray; all have attracted a good number of viewership which has paved the path for more such anthologies to come.
Undoubtedly, the trend is here to stay, with more and more filmmaker’s looking to take the plunge in the vast ocean of unparalleled content that these anthologies are known to have. We have learned that Amazon Prime Video is bringing on board six critically acclaimed directors such as Vishal Bhardwaj, Hansal Mehta, Shonali Bose, Anjali Menon, Alankrita Shrivastava, and Dhruv Sehgal for a romantic comedy anthology.
The project will be the Indian adaptation of Modern Love, another Prime Video’s hit American anthology. This American anthology is inspired by the real-life essays that were a part of a weekly column by the same name in The New York Times. The Indian adaptation will, however, have original stories from India as the makers are only retaining the theme of their American counterpart.
These fresh stories will come from different parts of India, and an ensemble of well-known talents are being brought on board for this project. The preparation of the anthology has already begun, and the project will go floors in Mumbai. Rangita Pritish Nandy, who under the banner Pritish Nandy Communications, has already produced the well-acclaimed Four More Shots Please! series will be bankrolling the anthology.
