Sourav Ganguly’s biopic has been making a lot of news since last year. It was earlier said that the celebrated Indian cricketer’s biopic rights were bagged by filmmaker Karan Johar, who wanted to cast Ranbir Kapoor in it, however, it is Luv Ranjan who is making the film now. And the reports coming in suggest that he has not confirmed Ranbir Kapoor for the film but has kept him as one of the options. Ranjan’s first two choices are somebody else. There is nothing decided on the casting yet, but as per the director, the two people who he thinks can fit in for the role are Sidharth Malhotra and Vicky Kaushal. He has already briefed the idea of the project to both the actors and is awaiting their approval on it. Ranjan’s team is currently working on the draft of the script and is plucking out portions of Dada’s life which can be shown on the big screen. According to sources, Luv wants to cast someone who resembles Sourav Ganguly in terms of looks and appearance. Although Vicky Kaushal is a great player, Sidharth Malhotra is a perfect match for the role, both in terms of physical traits and skills. The actor is a right-hander, but bats left-handed and is very good at the sport. The biopic will go on floors from 2022.
