Ajay Devgn starrer MayDay, which also has Amitabh Bachchan in it, will release on April 29, 2022, however, most of its shoot is already over. The second last schedule was wrapped up in Mira Road and Vasai and the final leg will take place in Doha, Qatar. Although the three-day overseas schedule was supposed to happen at the end of April, but due to the rise in the Coronavirus cases, it has been put on hold. MayDay is based on a little known true event.

As per the reports coming in, the movie is inspired by a 2015 episode of a Jet Airways flight from Doha to Kochi, which had a close shave due to poor visibility. It is said that the incident took place on the early morning of August 18, 2015, when a flight that was carrying 149 souls on board tried to land in Kochi but had to abort due to poor visibility.

The flight was then diverted to the Trivandrum airport, where the visibility was equally poor and which is what prompted the pilots to initiate a MayDay call. After multiple failed attempts, the pilots finally managed to land the aircraft at Trivandrum with only between 250-350 litres of fuel left.

A Boeing 737 aircraft must have a minimum reserve fuel of 1500 litres. This incident did not make much news in the media back then, and nobody knows what happened later. The plot of the movie looks exciting for this fourth directorial of Ajay Devgn. The actor has had tremendous success of late, with his last film Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, becoming the highest grosser of 2020.
