NCB Files 12000 Page Chargesheet In The SSR Drug Case

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has filed a 12000-page chargesheet in the drug case that inadvertently emerged during Sushant Singh Rajput’s death investigation last year. The confirmation of the chargesheet being filed came directly from Sameer Wankhede, NCB’s Mumbai Zonal Unit’s top boss. A total of 33 people have been named in the chargesheet which was submitted to the NDPS sessions court. The document includes the names of several drug peddlers as well as other individuals involved in the case. Rhea Chakroborty & her brother also feature in the accused list along with Sushant’s house-help. It all began in the last week of August 2020 when NCB filed an FIR in the case. Chargesheet had to be filed within 180 days from the date of the FIR. It comprises of almost 200 witness statements. Furthermore, out of the total accused named in it, 8 are still under judicial custody while the rest including Rhea & Showik are out on bail. Several Bollywood A-listers had been summoned by the Bureau with regards to consumption and storage of drugs during the course of the investigation. The chargesheet will also be provided to the accused and the court will give out a hearing date after which the regular hearing shall start. In addition to the 12000 pages, NCB has also shared around 40,000 pages in digital format.
