With Prithviraj, Akshay Kumar will become the only Indian actor to have three films of his released in IMAX. The other two movies being, Gold and 2.0, both of which were released in 2018. The teaser of the mega movie was released on Monday by YRF, and as expected, it received a great response.
The 82-second long teaser had grandeur, impeccable VFX, Akshay’s aura and of course, scale.
Besides this, what has left the fans exciting is the announcement that the film will release in IMAX format as well. It was implied that a movie as big as Prithviraj would also go the IMAX way as it deserves to be seen on the biggest of all the screens as possible.
Even for Yash Raj Films, Prithviraj will be their third venture to be screened on IMAX; the previous projects being Dhoom 3 in 2013 and Thugs of Hindustan, which was showcased in 2018. As per a trade expert, Hollywood churns out several IMAX driven movies every year, while Bollywood only has 9 in the last eight years. That said, he hopes things to change now, as Bollywood too has now been consistent in making grand movies on a much bigger scale.
