Siddharth Roy Kapur, Ex-top boss of UTV Motion Pictures and the promoter of Roy Kapur Films, has been re-elected as the President of Producers Guild of India. In the 67th AGM held online on Thursday, the unanimous decision of re-electing Kapur was taken by the Guild’s Council of Management. Upon getting re-elected, Siddharth thanked the members for the trust reposed in him through the years. However, Siddharth also announced that he would not be making himself available for re-election next year, and therefore 2022 would be the year of leadership transition for the Guild. As the President of the Guild since 2017, Siddharth Roy Kapur has spearheaded multiple initiatives that focused on increasing the market size as well as the reach of Indian content. The members during the AGM were apprised of the various developments and activities taking place during the year. Due to the pandemic, the Guild has been in the thick of things when it comes to leading the film industry’s response by adopting the must-follow SOP’s for safe shooting schedules, advocating shoot restarts, organizing the much-needed COVID-19 vaccination camps, and above all facilitating financial assistance for the daily wage workers from the industry. One of the important steps taken during the AGM was a major expansion in the ranks of women producers in pivotal leadership roles. Madhu Bhojwani from Emmay Entertainment & Motion Pictures LLP and Ambika Khurana from Netflix India would be joining as Vice Presidents of the Guild, while Fazila Alliana of Sol Productions would be taking over the reins of Treasurer.
