The much-talked-about legal battle between Scarlett Johansson and Disney has come to an end. Although the terms of the deal have not been disclosed, the breach of contract lawsuit concerning Black Widow has been settled. As per Hollywood Reporter, Scarlett Johansson’s lawsuit was poised to have serious implications for other major studios. According to the actress, she is happy that her differences with Disney are amicably resolved. Scarlett further said that she is incredibly proud of the work she and Disney have done together for years, and the creative relationship with them has been worth every moment. The Black Widow actress went on to say that she looks forward to collaborating with Disney for years to come. Alan Bergman, Disney Chairman, in a statement concerning the development, said that he is very pleased that the Studio has been able to come to a mutual agreement with Scarlett Johansson and that they appreciate her contribution to the Marvel Universe. He even said that they look forward to working on upcoming projects with her, which include the likes of Tower of Terror. For the unversed, the suit was filed in a Los Angeles Supreme Court in July this year by Scarlett Johansson, claiming that Disney gave up Black Widows box office potential to grow its Disney+ streaming service. Although Disney countered that Scarlett was paid $20 million for the film, the actress got immense support from the industry, with actors and executives speaking out alongside her with regards to the issue. The complaint which was filed by Johansson stated that Marvel had guaranteed an exclusive theatrical release for Black Widow while signing the deal, however, the film was simultaneously got released on Disney+ which breached their terms of the contract. Black Widow, which has gone on to earn $379 million at the box office, was available on Disney+Premier right from the first day of release for an additional $30. It is, however, not confirmed, but in the wake of Scarlett Johansson’s lawsuit, several other A-listers too were considering filing similar cases for their respective projects as well.
