It was earlier announced that Ajay Devgn will be paid a staggering 125 crores for his digital debut, Rudra- The Edge of Darkness. As per the reports that are doing the rounds, the director of the first season, Rajesh Mapuskar, is paid a much lesser amount as remuneration. He will take home Rs. 4 crores for this assignment. As per a source, Ajay Devgn being paid Rs. 125 crores for his digital debut was obvious as it drew the attention of many streaming giants, but Mapuskar paid only four crores is where the stark difference lies. The source adds that writers and directors usually do not get their share of monetary respect, but it is usually the A-listers that get the monetary gain, the reason being that it is the actor’s name that pushes the series or a film forward than that of the director’s. As for the show, Rudra is an engaging dark crime drama series that will be produced by Applause Entertainment in association with BBC Studios India and will stream on Disney+Hotstar VIP.
