Now that there is a drastic fall in the COVID-19 cases due to an increase in vaccinations, unlike last year, this time, the 52nd edition of IFFI will be held as per schedule, from November 20-28 in physical form, at Goa.
There are no final lists of the attendees that have come out yet, however, this year’s edition has something interesting in store for the audience and participants coming in. For the first time in its history, IFFI will conduct screening and masterclasses by members who have proven their might on the OTT landscape. It is said that as a part of this initiative, Raj & DK, the makers of The Family Man series, will be taking up a masterclass session on the opening night. Other masterclasses will have the likes of Scam 1992 screenplay writers Sumit Purohit and Saurav Dey coming on board and sharing their vision.
Not just this, it is expected that Kartik Aaryan might as well introduce his Netflix thriller Dhamaka directed by Ram Madhvani during the festival. As per a source, nothing is confirmed on this as of now, since the film will premiere worldwide just a day before the festival begins. A call on this will be taken based on the promotion schedule of the film. Another highlight of IFFI this year will be the felicitation of Hollywood filmmaker Martin Scorsese and his Hungarian counterpart Istvan Szabo with the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award. However, there is no confirmation from either of them if they will be present at the festival.
