Sooryavanshi, which is doing exceptionally well at the box office, has emerged as another hit film from Rohit Shetty. As the film continues to rake in big numbers at the box office, the maker’s Reliance Entertainment and Rohit Shetty have cracked a mage deal with the OTT giant Netflix for a digital premiere.
According to the deal, Sooryavanshi will release a month after its theatrical showcase, i.e. on December 4. So there won’t be any eight-week window in this case. It looks like Netflix has paid a whopping number for the film’s digital association. The earlier deal was somewhere around Rs. 75 crores, while the current, updated deal with the OTT platform stands at Rs. 100 crores. It is said that Sooryavanshi will be one of the first major films to be making a digital premiere within 4 weeks of its release in theatres.
Because it is doing well pan India, the makers were expecting a premium when it came to the digital showcase, and the Netflix deal has surely fetched them the big numbers. Notably, Netflix was offering them a direct to digital premiere for Rs. 150 crores, but Rohit Shetty and the team were clearly inclined towards an exclusive theatrical release and needless to say, the move has paid off well.
