RRR Release Date Deferred Yet Again Due To Spike In COVID-19 Cases Across The Country

Ram Charan and Jr. NTR’s much-awaited movie, RRR, which was scheduled to be released on January 7, is postponed again due to the surge in coronavirus cases across the country. The news of its postponement comes just six days ahead of its worldwide theatrical release. The decision to defer the date was announced on the official Twitter handle of the film. The post read, “Keeping the best interests of the parties involved, the producers are forced to postpone the release of the film.”

The message also thanked all the fans and the audience for their unconditional love for RRR. In a statement that accompanied the message, the makers said that despite the relentless efforts to make sure the film releases on January 7, some situations are beyond their control. Since many Indian states are shutting down theatres, they are left with no other choice but to ask the fans to hold their excitement. Earlier last week, Delhi, which would have given the film’s numbers a big push, closed cinema halls and gyms due to the rising cases.

On the other hand, in another big centre, Maharashtra, guidelines by the state government have been issued to operate only at 50% occupancy. Owing to all these restrictions, Jersey, which was supposed to be released on December 31, 2021, has already postponed its filming. RRR’s release date has been postponed multiple times because of the pandemic. The new date of release is yet to be announced by the filmmakers.
