Shaktimaan, which happens to be India’s most popular superhero, is all set to make his way to the big screen as Sony Pictures India has announced that it will come up with a trilogy based on it. The original Shaktimaan, as we all know, aired on the country’s national channel, Doordarshan, for 8 years straight. Sony Pictures India has partnered with the original show producers, Bheeshm International, owned by lead actor Mukesh Khanna himself, and Brewing Thoughts for the upcoming venture. A teaser has aired on the Sony Pictures YouTube channel. The description of the teaser indicated that the studio is looking to recreate the iconic superhero’s magic. It also went on to state that the lead of the film will be one of India’s superstars. After the success of many superhero films in India and across the world, it is time to have a desi superhero, which is what the tweet from the studio mentioned concerning the development. Nothing has been disclosed as to who will direct the film or who will star in it. Shaktimaan is going to be Sony Pictures India’s first entry into the superhero space and, as per the studio, it will seek expertise from its parent company Sony Pictures Entertainment based in the US.
