Bollywood actress, Sonakshi Sinha and also Huma Qureshi have been victims of fat-shaming. And this isn’t just now that something like this has happened to them, but right from the day they stepped into the industry, they have been mercilessly trolled with unwarranted comments over their body weight. What they are both up to now is something very interesting.
To combat fat-shaming, Sonakshi and Huma have joined hands for a film that revolves around this topic. The film is titled Double XL. The video announcement of Double XL introduces Huma and Sonakshi as Rajshri Trivedi from Meerut and Saira Khanna from Delhi, respectively. The clip involves banter when Huma asks Sinha about how to reduce weight which they have gained for the film, Double XL. Sonakshi is seen as replying, just like what we did to be a heroine for the first time.
The banter between the two continues, with both of them reminding each other of what all they have gone through over the years. Amidst the banter, Sonakshi is seen asking Huma, are we fat-shaming each other, to which she says, why not!! Fat shaming is considered a matter of pride by a few people. A perplexed Sonakshi then asks those who fat shame have their sisters, mummies, and friends overweight too and don’t they have the right to dream? Huma answers they do have the right, and that’s why it is important to put forth their story.
The teaser of Double XL has been lauded in the industry as actresses and even actors have always been victims of fat-shaming. This is the first time a subject like this will be showcased on the big screen, and undoubtedly it is going to make a mark for itself. Double XL, which will be directed by Satramm Ramani and co-produced by Saqib Saleem and Huma herself, will have a release date soon.
