After the successful run at the box office with Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Farhan Akhtar and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra are back with the sports drama, Toofaan. The story revolves around Ajju, an orphan who grows up to be a local goon. His life takes a complete u-turn when he meets a bright and compassionate girl, Ananya, who motivates him to find his passion in life as he embarks on the journey to becoming Aziz Ali, a Boxing champion. The film was supposed to release in May this year on Amazon Prime Video, but plans had to change due to the COVID second wave. The makers have now decided to go ahead with July 16 as its date of release on the streaming giant. It was always going to be a direct-to-digital release for the movie. Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and co-produced by Excel Entertainment and ROMP Pictures, Toofaan is poised to be the biggest sports drama of the year and will be released in more than 240 countries worldwide.
