‘83 which is based on Kapil Dev-led Indian team’s World Cup victory has been declared tax-free by the Delhi Government. Directed by Kabir Khan, ‘83 is all about the historic Indian win in the 1983 Prudential Cricket World Cup.
Recently, Ranveer Singh, who is playing the role of Kapil Dev in the movie said that bowling like him was the most difficult and tricky aspect when it came to his character development. The film will have a host of actors alongside Ranveer, including the talented Pankaj Tripathi. Ranveer Singh’s real-life wife, Deepika Padukone, will be seen essaying the role of Romi Dev, Kapil Dev’s wife. A standing ovation was witnessed on the film’s world premiere at the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah recently. A video of the film receiving a standing ovation was all over the internet.
Kapil Dev, in a recent interview, had commented that the trailer made him extremely emotional, but he would love to see the end product as he cannot say anything till the movie is released. Kapil Dev is considered one of the finest players in world cricket to have graced the game. He was declared by Wisden as the Indian cricketer of the century. He still holds the record for the youngest cricket captain of the century to have won a Cricket World Cup for his country.
