With only a couple of weeks left for the release of Ranveer Singh’s 83, excitement is in the air already for the sports drama. The makers have held the movie for a year and a half as they were confident of its success at the box office window. And with the buzz already created due to the trailer, their patience, it seems, is likely to pay off.
The film, interestingly will not only be released in 2-D but 3-D as well. There was another format the movie was supposed to release in, and that was IMAX. Being a larger-than-life sports drama, the makers were of an opinion that IMAX offers that grandeur and scale, and hence it would be an ideal platform. However, sadly, the makers have decided to drop the plan. The source informs that when the makers got in touch with the officials from IMAX, North America, they declined the request.
It is because 83 releases a week after Spider-Man: No Way Home and just a couple of days after The Matrix Resurrections, both of which will be released in the IMAX version. Therefore, the IMAX management did not want to encourage too many IMAX releases in the same period. As a result of this, they refused an IMAX version approval for 83. As per a trade expert, an IMAX version would have been a great platform for 83, however, the 3-D version will also enhance the earnings.
