Shefali Shah is undoubtedly one of the best actresses the country has today. After the success of Ajeeb Daastaans, which was released last year, and the Emmy Award-winning 2019 release, Delhi Crime, she is back in a medical thriller called “Human,” the trailer of which was released yesterday.
From the trailer, we could make out that Shefali plays the role of a doctor who runs a hospital named Manthan. She also has Kriti Kulhari playing the role of her colleague. “Human” is about illegal human testing of a banned drug that results in the loss of several lives. In one of the scenes in the trailer, a young man from an impoverished bracket intends to be tested against the injection in exchange for Rs. 10,000.
Shefali Shah and Kriti Kulhari look in top gear as they are embroiled in a controversy that could end their careers. The timing of the series seems to be apt as, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, several pharmaceutical companies have found themselves in controversies and a medical thriller like this seems very relevant. As per Vipul Amrutlal Shah, the creator of the series, “Human” showcases the unknown aspects of the medical world. He adds that Ishani Banerjee and Mozez Singh have done a phenomenal job with the script and the star-cast make the series an exciting watch.
He further says that through this subject, they have touched upon elements such as malpractices in the medical field and the value of human life in today’s times. Shefali Shah, speaking about her character, said that when she had read the script, she just imagined the current scenario, the hospital world, and trials conducted for vaccines. All these developments, according to her, question humanity. According to her, the character she plays in the series is unpredictable and unreadable. The series will start streaming on Disney+Hotstar on January 14.
