The past few days have been dramatic and tumultuous for Dharma Production’s Dostana 2. With Kartik Aaryan no longer a part, the production house has started to look out for options for a lead that best fits into the role. This romantic comedy also stars Janhvi Kapoor and newcomer Lakshya Lalwani. The project kicked off in 2019 but was put on hold, initially due to the pandemic, and then later because of creative differences between Karan Johar & Kartik Aaryan. Now that the production house isn’t left with an option, they are planning to go back to their first choice, Rajkummar Rao. He was apparently considered first for the movie long back, when the casting had begun, but could not be a part of it due to his already chalked-out commitments. The makers are now planning to consider him again as he fits the role. Besides, Rajkummar Rao & Janhvi Kapoor have already worked together in the recently released Roohi and share a good work rapport. Although Karan Johar is still trying to figure out who to consider for the lead role and director Collin D’Cunha is tweaking the script accordingly, it will be interesting to see who becomes a part of this movie which has already grabbed the headlines much before its release.
