Once again Akshay Kumar has proved that he is a ‘lambi race ka ghoda’ at the box office. The actor who has given a string of hits in recent times with Airlift, Jolly LLB, Toilet – Ek Prem Katha and the much recent Padman once again proved his acting prowess with his latest hit ‘Gold’.
Appreciated by both the critics and the masses alike, Gold became the 5th movie of the year with a mega day one box office collection of 25 crores. And over the weekend, it kept the cash register ringing incessantly.
As of Sunday since its release a day prior to Independence Day, the box office collection of ‘Gold’ stood at Rs.69 crore approximately and counting.
Collection breakup:
Day 1 (Wed) – Approx. Rs.25 crore
Day 2 (Thurs) – Approx. Rs. 8 crore
Day 3 (Friday) – Approx. Rs. 10 crore
Day 4 (Sat) – Approx. Rs. 12 crore
Day 5 (Sun) – Approx. Rs.14 crore
Total – Rs.69 crores.
