The film was a blockbuster and managed to rake in a lot of money at the box office.Ajay Kapoor, who is one of the producers in Bollywood, has brought the rights of the film, and the announcement on the cast and director is expected soon.Talking about the development, Kapoor said that 96, the Tamil film, was a heartwarming and romantic tale that went on to receive exceptional love from the audience. Since the story breaks the barriers of language and region, it prompted him to take up the rights of the movie. He added that the work is currently going on as far as developing the right script, director and the right kind of star cast is concerned. According to him, once everything is finalized, he would like to make an official announcement on the cast and crew. Notably, the Tamil film was mounted on a decent budget and raked in astonishing box office numbers, making it one of the biggest commercial successes of 2018. Ajay Kapoor has recently finished Attack and has also announced Garud, a big-budget Afghanistan rescue mission film.
