Aankhen 2, which was to be helmed by Abhinay Deo, has been shelved. The movie has gone through a lot of ups and downs ever since its announcement in 2016. It would have been the sequel to the 2002 heist thriller Aankhen which was directed by Anees Bazmee. Aankhen 2 was first announced with Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, and Regina Cassandra as its star cast. But ever since then, the movie did not go on floors, and reports started doing rounds of it being shelved. But now, from what we hear from Abhinay Deo himself, the movie has been shelved with Amitabh Bachchan’s exit. Abhinay was being quoted as saying that without Mr. Bachchan, he cannot make Aankhen 2 as he is the only thread that continues from the 2002 Aankhen. And now that he is no longer there, the film is kept on the burner. Abhinay is also hopeful that at some point in the future, they might be able to make it again. Amitabh was supposed to reprise the role of Vijay Singh Rajput in Aankhen 2, and later it was reported that the initial star cast was replaced by Siddharth Malhotra, Akshay Khanna, and Sunil Grover. The first schedule was supposed to start from May 2021 but had to be postponed due to the pandemic.
