Raj Kundra and his company’s IT Head, Ryan Thorpe, have got bail in the pornographic case on a surety of Rs. 50,000. Both were under arrest since July 19. While seeking bail in the case, Raj Kundra told the court that videos uploaded on the app were shot with the consent of the actors. He also went on to mention that he held ownership of the mobile app Hotshots for not more than ten months. During the hearing, Kundra claimed that in the short period that he had owned Hotshots, he interacted with a few clients and nothing more than that. He confirmed that never was he involved in any kind of contract building or content creation. Notably, Hotshots mobile application was developed to stream pornographic content which Raj Kundra’s company produced. In a 1467 page charge sheet that has been filed by the police, a minimum of 42 people were interrogated during the course of the investigation, including Kundra’s wife Shilpa Shetty Kundra, who said that she was too busy with her assignments and wasn’t aware of what her husband was up to. The Mumbai Police has already charged Kundra under various sections of the Indian Penal Code of being the key conspirator in the case and also alleged that he, through his Hotshots app, earned more than Rs. 1.17 crores on Apple’s App Store itself between August and December last year through subscribers.
