Top Gun Sequel & Mission: Impossible 7

The release date of Top Gun: Maverick & Mission: Impossible 7 has been pushed further. Amidst the surge in cases due to the delta variant of COVID-19, Top Gun: Maverick, which was scheduled to open in theatres on November 19, 2021, is now pushed to May 27, 2022. On the other hand, Mission: Impossible 7 has shifted its release from May 27, 2022, to September 30, 2022. Both these films have been postponed several times as movie theatre attendance levels have not gone to the pre-COVID era. As the budget of these movies is humongous, they are meant for a theatrical release rather than adjusting themselves to an OTT spectrum. The makers, therefore, are left with no choice but to push the release dates as the box office is struggling to draw crowds the world over. The postponement of Top Gun: Maverick is a big blow to cinema operators as it would have had people flocking the theatres. Besides these two movies, Jackass Forever starring Johnny Knoxville and Steve-O, is pushed to 2022. With the situation looking grim in the US due to the pandemic surge, in all likelihood James Bonds next, No Time To Die, may also reschedule its release to a later date than October 8.
