A film industry delegation met Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar and actor-MP Sunny Deol and receive an assurance for help

Today a Film industry delegation meet Prakash Javadekar and MP Sunny Deol regarding functional issue of entire film industry, Post Covid 19,  receive assurance for help Issue raised by the delegation siting the reference of various other industries that have been given go ahead to operate with full potential and return to normalcy.

The film industry is still functioning with lots of restriction and guidelines issued by the Govt. and waiting to get go ahead for full operation.

Right now, theatre has been given the permission to screen movies with just 50 per cent of the seating capacity.
Since the start of the Covid 19 there has been no major release happened, in the absence of release of film producers, exhibitors and distributors have been facing a very tough time at the moment.
To address this challenging situation, the delegation met the Information & Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar and actor-Member of Parliament Sunny Deol to raise their concerns and received an assurance.

A delegation member was Gianchandani, Sanjeev Bijli, Devang Sampat and CEO of Producers’ Guild Association of India, Nitin Tej Ahuja.

The Film industry has taken it as a ‘very important development’, as the Union Minister ‘assured full support’ to help the film and cinema exhibition sector amid the pandemic.

With 50 per cent seating capacity movie released in theatres like Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari, Indoo Ki Jawaani, Shakeela and Christopher Nolan’s Tenet did not get good response.

In the meantime, producers also tried Over-the-Top platform for the release of the films like A-listers like Laxmii, Coolie No 1, Gulabo Sitabo, but some of the major films are still hoping for a release on the big screens.

Getting the go ahead for a fully operation film industry, will be a big development for the film industry.
