Anurag Kashyap threw a major surprise when he took to Twitter today to announce that his production house Phantom Films is shutting down.

Founded in 2011 by Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, Madhu Mantena and Vikas Bahl, Phantom Films over the years had produced some of the finest films like Queen, Lootera, Udta Punjab, Masaan, Ugly, Mukkabaz and the recently released Manmarziyaan among others. Not to mention the much acclaimed web series, Sacred Games.

Meanwhile Vikramaditya stated, “Vikramaditya shared, “Vikas, Madhu, Anurag and I have decided to dissolve our partnership in Phantom and go our separate ways.

It’s been the craziest, greatest journey and the most wonderful partnership of my life. My three partners have been my family through thick and thin and I can’t thank them enough for their love and support for the past seven years. I wish them nothing but the best on their individual journeys from here on and hope our paths will cross again in better times.”

Madhu Mantena stated on social media, “Want to announce that Anurag, Vikram, Vikas and I have decided to dissolve our partnership in Phantom and go our separate ways. We had a glorious run for seven years and I guess sometimes even marriages end. I personally believe that Phantom is the best thing that has happened to me in my producing career. I want to thank Anurag, Vikram and Vikas for being great partners, mentors and holding my hand patiently through my dark times.  Hope to continue to be friends and may be even collaborate on individual films in the future. We wish each other the best. All of us will continue to work with our partners Reliance Entertainment exclusively.”

While Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane and Vikas Bahl are directors with acclaimed movies to their credits, Madhu Mantena has solely been a producer.

The journey of Phantom Films had started with Lootera starring Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha. The film had been a turning point for Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha as it established them as bonafide actors.

Friends turned partners turned ex-partners. We hope these four extremely talented people come together once again to entertain us with quality cinema for which they were known for.

For now Fuh Se Phantom won’t resonate in our ears.
