Akshay Kumar and Aanand L Rai, after Atrangi Re and Rakshabandhan, have decided to take their collaboration even further. They will now come together for a biopic based on the life of Major General Ian Cardozo, called Gorkha. Major General Cardozo is a war hero from the Gorkha regiment of the Indian Army (5th Gorkha Rifles). The film will be helmed by the National Award winner Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan. The makers have decided to bring this story of supreme valor on the big screen as the country enters its 75th Independence Year,. Akshay Kumar will be seen essaying the role of a legendary war hero who fought the 1962, 1965, and the most significant Indo-Pakistan war in 1971.
Akshay has decided to present the movie himself, considering it is a special film about an icon from the Indian Army. Speaking on unveiling the first look, Aanand L Rai says that they are honored to be bringing the story of the legendary war hero Major General Ian Cardozo, whose name goes down in history for his unmatched courage in the Indo-Pak war of 1971. Rai added that he is excited to work with Akshay Kumar again on the project. Producer, Himanshu Sharma believes that the film will inspire many, and he is indeed looking forward to this special journey.
Talking about the movie made on him, Major General Cardozo shares that he feels honored that this story will be told on the 50th anniversary of the 1971 war. It will indeed commemorate the courage and sacrifice of the armed forces of the country and that he looks forward to working with Anand and Akshay to bring the project to life. According to him, the story will reflect the value and spirit of each officer of the Indian Army.
