The latest Levi’s Ad featuring Deepika Padukone has found itself stuck amidst a controversy. The set of the advertisement is identical to Sooni Taraporevala’s Directorial Yeh Ballet which was released in 2020 on Netflix. The ad’s set designer, Rupin Suchak in fact went on to confirm the similarities between the sets. According to him, it was the ad director Nadia Marquard Otzen’s idea to deliberately recreate it. Soon after, Taraporevala through her Instagram handle stated that a couple of days ago someone brought the recent Levi’s ad to her attention. Apparently, she was completely shocked to see the same set which was created from scratch in her 2020 movie. According to her, space was built by her movie’s production designer and was dismantled after the shoot. She accused Levi’s ad director of plagiarizing the set to the very last detail. She also added that would Levi’s or the director even think of doing such an act in the West without taking permission and passing it off as their work. She went on to blast the people involved asking them if they were creatively bankrupt.
