Last month when cinemas opened in most of the states, Warner Brothers, as well as Universal Pictures, decided to go ahead with their film release wherever possible. The decision thereafter was taken to release Fast & Furious 9 on August 19. However, a day later, Bellbottom starring Akshay Kumar, also announced its release date to be the same as Fast & Furious 9. This created a lot of anxiety and concern among trade circles as it was felt that such a clash of two giant films could have been avoided in times like these. It is now said that Fast & Furious 9 will postpone its release to September 3. It does come as a relief to single screen owners as they would have had an option to play only one movie in the previous scenario. On top of it, states are running theatres at a capacity of 50%, and with night curfew also in place, these two big-budget mass entertainers wouldn’t have received the response they very well deserve.
